Shick Team ~ God’s timing is always perfect!

We were excited to welcome our first Construction team of the season this week! Ron and Linnea Shick along with their team of seven greatly impacted the community we were able to serve in.  We had a wet week with lots of rain..but even through the rain, God’s power was displayed to us.  It seemed whenever we needed to work the rain would hold off, but when it was time to eat, it would pour! It rained every night we were there, but when we woke up to begin working, the rain would stop.  God provided enough time for the roof, benches, and extra ministries to be accomplished.

Sink hole!

Thankfully it didn't take too long to get moving again

We made twenty school desk for them!

This little boy loved his whistle! Although the rain kept many of the kids from attending the kids club Sunday evening, the ones who traveled through the mud had a fun evening!

Monday afternoon the ladies on the team held a conference for the women in the village.

As part of the gift the women received, each were given a Haitian songbook. They were SO excited! This particular lady was so precious. As she walked out of the church with a huge smile on her face, I hardly even noticed the muddy shoes she held in her hand. No doubt her life is hard compared to many in this world, but by the joy in her eyes, you would have never known!

Tuesday was a full day! As part of the team finished the roof, the rest of us held an eye clinic! We were able to help over 400 receive a pair of reading glasses.

Chloewas one of the four who could speak creole and help find which glasses would be best. She did an incredible job!

Words can't describe the complete joy on this women's face when I gave her a pair of reading glasses that allowed her to read!

Words can’t describe the complete joy on this women’s face when I gave her a pair of reading glasses! As I handed her a Bible to read, tears welled up in her eyes as she read the bible for the first time in years.

After the Haitians received their prescription, the team helped them choose a pair of glasses they liked.

Rain, Rain, RAIN!

Rain, Rain, RAIN! I had to post one of these:) They prepared our meals in these small classrooms.

A lovely morning before the rain

Finished! As we were placing the last few pieces of tin, we all watched as the sky grew darker and darker. We were all praying the rain would hold off so we would be able to finish. The rain began pouring down as the last nail was pounded in. Of course we got wet while we put the tools away, but God answered our prayers and held the rain until we were done and off the roof!  Once again, HIS perfect timing!!

We are praising God for his faithfulness during this first team. The Jesus Film, kids club, women’s conference, and eye clinic were wonderful ways the team reached out to the village.  We appreciate each member of the team that gave their time, resources, and love to come to Haiti and be apart of what God is doing here.

All Glory to HIM!

Thanks Alisha for the update. Ron and Linnea invited us to go with them, but I was a little afraid to make the trip yet until I get straightened out. Sure did think of them and all the workers though. We heard Haiti was getting a lot of rain. Tomorrow we are picking up a Haitian Richard Roodly, attends the Charpentier church and he will be spending a couple of weeks with us. He has been in Agricultural School in Maine since May and is returning to Haiti December 5.

I love the ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures of the school/church building. Strong. Serviceable, Dry Buildings. To be used in comfort!! and Perfected Vision is a precious Gift!!
